KATHERINE SCHAUFENBUEL

Katherine Schaufenbuel is a 13-year-old violinist from Naperville, Illinois. Katherine is a 2025 fellow of NPR’s From the Top and has been featured on WFMT 98.7’s Introductions. She studies with professor Grigory Kalinovsky of IU Jacobs Music School. Katherine has been a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras for six years, currently being the co-principal of its Symphony Orchestra. In the past few years she has attended music programs such as the Heifetz International Music Institute. She has also collaborated with and taken masterclasses from many prominent musicians, including Sergey Malov, Robert McDuffie, Vadim Gluzman, Francesca de Pasquale, Rebecca Henry, Dr. Renée-Paule Gauthier, and more.

Katherine is an eighth grader at Kennedy Junior High School. Outside of music, she enjoys golfing and ping pong and likes to build model cars. Katherine plays on a 1676 Francesco Rugeri violin generously loaned by Kenneth Warren and Son, Ltd.
